The 4th grade team welcomes Ms. Williams and Mr. Falk! Ms. Williams did her student-teaching at Oak Grove and Mr. Falk previously worked in the Shawnee Mission School District.
Elorah and Alexander, 4th graders, spent cub bucks to have lunch with Mrs. Darby and Mr. Attebery on Monday, May 19th! Fourth graders in Mrs. Gonser's social studies classes had some fun with archaeology and history! Kiel Hileman, the 2004 Kansas Teacher of the Year, visited them this week and shared many amazing artifacts. They held a meteorite, an actual Civil War cannon ball, and Edison light bulb, a prehistoric shark tooth, and even a piece of the pyramid of Giza! It was a memorable hands on demonstration.
Kylei from Mrs. Down's 4th grade was Friday's Earth Week question winner! She answered the following question correctly: If it takes 26 plastic soda bottles to make 1 polyester suit, how many bottles does it take to make 10 suits?! Great job Kylei!
In honor of Kansas 153rd birthday, Mrs. Worths' 4th grade students learned about their state by making Kansas posters! Alexander from Mrs. Huffmans' 4th grade class spent 150 cub bucks to have his picture taken with Mrs. Darby and Mr. Attebery by the paparazzi! SPLASH! FAMILY FUN NIGHT was held on October 8th. StoneLion Puppet Theatre presented the Down the Drain Puppet Show at 6:30 p.m. Students and families enjoyed games, arts and crafts and jugglers. Students had submitted designs for rain barrels and the winning design was Ava Kroh's, a 4th grade student! A rain barrel provides an ample supply of free "soft water" to homeowners, containing no chlorine, lime or calcium, making it ideal for gardens, flower pots, and car and window washing. A rain barrel will save most homeowners about 1,300 gallons of water during the peak summer months!!!! Congratulations Ava on the winning design! Mrs. Gonser's 4th grade class enjoys recess despite the heat! Mrs. Gonser adjusted her recess time so that her 4th graders were not outside during the intense heat of the day! Recess is an important part of the day for most 4th graders to socialize and have fun! |
